What services do you offer?

I provide tub repair, tub refinishing, tile refinishing, sink refinishing, tub to shower conversions, and jet delete services for all types of tubs including fiberglass, acrylic, cast iron, pressed steel, and cultured marble.

How long does the refinishing process take?

The refinishing process typically takes between 3 to 6 hours, depending on the condition, type and size of the tub.

Is the refinished surface durable?

Yes, professionally refinished surfaces are very durable and can last 10-15 years with proper care.  The coatings are 2 part industrial solvent based coatings formulated just for tubs which offer a high abrasion and chip resistance. The durability can be compared to the durability of the paint on vehicles.

Do you offer warranties on your services?

Yes, we provide a 5 year residential warranty on adhesion on our refinishing services as well as a 5 year structural warranty on repairs to ensure customer satisfaction.

How bad will the odor be?

The odor associated with refinishing are from the solvents evaporating from the coating. Because the coatings are solvent based, they are dry to the touch by the time I pack my tools up. At this point roughly 95% of the fumes have evaporated and have been ventilated to the outside of your home using an exhaust system that moves 3000 cubic feet of air per minute. The remaining solvents will evaporate over the course of the next few hours and is typically handled by your bathroom exhaust fan or cracking a window.

What if there is no window in my bathroom?

No problem. My 12 inch ventilation system has tubes that hook to it, which run out of the nearest window or door. It is preferred to have an opening window or door within 50 feet of the item that's being refinished but longer distances can be accommodated.

Will there be dust?

I pride myself on keeping my jobs clean and leaving it as clean as it was when I arrived. There is little to no dust produced on most refinishing jobs or small repairs. Other jobs such as large repairs or stripping paint from previously painted tubs will produce more dust.  For these jobs I'm highly invested in a Festool hepa filtration dust collector system with the Festool sanders that are made to work with it. This system is far more advanced than tools that can be bought in a store. My ventilation system also pulls dust out of the air and moves it to the outside of the home. While all dust cant be contained on large repairs or stripping, this system guarantees minimal dust for the situation.

Will there be overspray or paint on anything other than my tub?

No. Having paint on anything other than what Im hired to refinish is unacceptable. I use a combination of masking paper/plastic, hvlp sprayer, drop clothes, and the ventilation system. An hvlp sprayer is designed for detailed work. These sprayers have a much higher transfer efficiency rate, which means more paint actually sticks to the surface rather than bouncing off and being airborne. The ventilation system then pulls any airborne overspray and emits it to the outside of the home.

Im renovating, doing other work, and/or changing plumbing fixtures. When should the tub be refinished?

I'm typically the very last guy in. It's best to have all other work done and cleaned up, with exception to paint touch ups or wallpaper when the tub or item being refinished touches the wall such as fiberglass units. The goal is to have any work done that could risk damaging the tub such as overhead work, tile around the tub, plumbing work within the tub including drains, etc. I will remove any necessary plumbing trim plates and reinstall before leaving. Bathroom should be cleaned up and as dust free as possible to prevent the dust from becoming airborne during ventilation and ending up in the finish.

How do I maintain my refinished tub?

Wait 24 hours before using. The cleaning instructions for a refinished tub is the same as a brand new tub or any item that you want to remain shiny and easy to clean. Clean only with pH-neutral, non abrasive, non-acidic cleaners. Avoid harsh scrubbing pads including magic erasers. These chemicals and pads will not remove the coating, but they will scratch your tub each use until it becomes dull and hard to clean again. Use only bathmats that have no suction cups. Keep sharp metal objects out of the tub. Washing animals is fine but if they have sharp claws it is recommended to have protection in the floor of the tub such as a bathmat without suction cups. text

Can I use my tub right after refinishing?

No. Tubs are ready to use 24 hours after completion. I do have a 4 hour cure additive available for properties that require a quick turn around. The 4 hour cure works fine but I prefer to allow the coating to do its thing and cure over the 24 hour period.
